Southwark Cathedral Organised by the Leprosy Mission, in conjunction with international designer Mig Kimpton, the festival was held in Southwark Cathedral over the August Bank Holiday 2012.
Three members of the Group were invited to take part in a festival to raise awareness of the ongoing problems of leprosy throughout the world. The team was (l to r) Hazel Mitten,Jennifer Collett and chairman Christine Purkess. Their arrangement depicted a quotation from Shakespeare's A Winter's Tale
Sussex Area Festival at Nymans
A team of arrangers from the Flower Group enjoyed taking part in a Festival organised by Sussex Area of NAFAS. The team comprised Jennifer Collett, Hazel Mitten, Eileen Parnaby and Arthur Pleasants. They arranged around the Dovecote. One of the arrangements subsequently appeared in the Flower Arranger magazine.
Westminster Abbey
Several Members have had the honour of being invited to arrange flowers at Westminster Abbey including the Commonwealth Observance and more recently the Easter Flowers on the High Altar. One of the arrangers said " it was in 2011 and just one week before the Royal Wedding of Prince William and Catherine Middleton. The atmosphere in the Abbey (and the whole of London) was amazing - such a buzz - and many of the visitors asked if we were doing the wedding flowers. This was not the case, however, but the flowers did go to St Margaret's Chapel instead."
